The Stage 3 of Water Economics Training in Azerbaijan and Georgia is successfully conducted

    
   The third block of trainings on Water Economics had been completed in Azerbaijan and Georgia during the week of April 23 - 27. 
   The training started in Azerbaijan on April 23 with two days sessions and continued in Tbilisi on Thursday and Friday. Representatives of stakeholder institutions in both countries had an opportunity to continue to learn new experience and knowledge about economy of water resources.  
   The Environment and Water Resources Economist of the Kura II project Mrs. Vania Paccagnan made presentations on Economics of Integrated Pollution Control, Economics of Water Resources Allocation, Economics of Climate Change, Circular Economy and other related topics. 
     There were also practical exercises during the sessions as well as open discussions with participants on challenges and opportunities faced by both countries during the training. Participants were extremely enthusiastic with their ideas and addressed questions with the aim to hear about best practices in this field from global experience. 


   
  Alumni of the training expressed their gratitude to the Kura II team for organization of trainings in such a high level and stated their expectation to take part in next series of training blocks to expand their knowledge and learn international experience in the field of economy of environment and natural resources. 
     


    All the participants were awarded with certificates of successful completion of the training block.

Trainings on Capacity Building for ISO 17025 Implementation for Environmental Laboratories in Azerbaijan and Georgia are completed

        The 3rd block of training sessions on Capacity Building for ISO 17025 Implementation for Environmental Laboratories in Azerbaijan and Georgia has been successfully conducted and completed within the IWRM Academy during the week of April 16 – 20, 2018.

      Close to 40 specialists working at the laboratories of institutions that are beneficiaries and main stakeholders of Kura II project in Azerbaijan and Georgia attended all three blocks of trainings conducted by the Laboratory Quality Management Expert Mrs. Varsha Gungoa.

   The participants had been able to expand their knowledge about ISO 17025 accreditation procedures for Laboratories as well as huge number of details about ISO 17025 and ISO 9001 standards.

      The international expert provided very comprehensive explanation about the differences between the ISO 17025 version of 2005 and new version of the same document issued and approved in 2017.

     The second day of the trainings included also practical session at the Central Laboratory of the Ministry Ecology and Natural Resources in Azerbaijan and Atmospheric, Air, Water and Soil Analyses Laboratory of the National Environmental Agency in Georgia. The international expert shared her practical experience with trainees on some test methods.


      The participants expressed their gratitude to the project team and international expert for organization of trainings in high level. They stated that the knowledge and experience obtained during these 3 blocks is going to be very useful and valuable for them to apply in their job in the future. They had also proposed ideas regarding the potential topics that can be considered for future trainings.


       The Kura II Senior Capacity Building Expert Eng. Ahmed Abou Elseoud acted as a facilitator of the final session where participants discussed what topics are interesting for them on which they would be glad to learn international experience.
         The session had been completed with awarding certificates to participants.
