The UNDP GEF Kura II Project implementing IWRM Across the Kura River Basin had started series of training sessions since mid January 2018 in Azerbaijan and Georgia. The Chief Technical Advisor and Senior Capacity Building Expert of the Kura II team as well as international experts involved within the project had conducted training sessions for the representatives of project stakeholders.
The topics have been covering various aspects of IWRM, Water Resources Economy, Sampling Procedures for Laboratory Staff, Emissions Inventory for wastewater, EU Water Framework Directive requirements and River Basin Management Planning etc. Representatives of different departments and divisions of the MENR which is a beneficiary of the project, as well as the State Water Resources Agency of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, “Azersu” JSC, “Amelioration and Water Economy” JSC, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Agriculture, research fellows and lecturers of Universities, private sector specialists had a unique chance to benefit from rich experience of Kura II staff members as well as international experts with a strong background in the above mentioned fields.
The IWRM for Rising Decision Makers is one of the first training block launched on January presented jointly by the CTA and Senior Capacity Building Expert of the Kura II project. The training-workshop was attended by twenty (20) Azerbaijan participants representing the main stakeholders, ministry of Ecology and natural resources protection, Amelioration JSC, Azersu, Ministry of emergency situation, ministry of energy, and the universities.
